Term Definition
E-commerce
E-commerce is the buying and selling of goods and services on the Internet. In reality there are many terms that represent the same thing, e-business and e-tailing can often be used interchangeably.
E-mail auto responder
An email function that automatically returns a prewritten message to anyone who sends e-mail to a particular e-mail address. Auto responders are widely used for the purpose of responding to visitor comments and suggestions in a preliminary way. “We have received your message and will get back to you soon”
E-mail Forward
An email function that sends a copy of an e-mail to another e-mail address.
Email Client
An application used to compose, send, receive and view e-mails. Some common examples include Outlook, Outlook Express, and Eudora.
Email POP Account
POP (Post Office Protocol) is an actual e-mail account on your web host's e-mail server. Think of each POP account as a unique email address. You can create aliases for an address for example, info@redpebble.ie could be the main pop address but johnsmith@redpebble.ie is the alias. Both addresses are valid but only one account is used.
