It would seem that Internet Explorer 6 is coming to an end. Like all other web developers out there I have spent a lot of extra hours specifically coding workarounds for the problems that arose with IE 6 and I am relieved to hear that it is on its way out.Internet Explorer 6 was released on August 27, 2001, a few months before Windows XP. It’s now eight years old, its had a great run. IE 6 was the most used browser for a long time until the release of Firefox. Oddly enough we are still coding workarounds for this browser eight years on but do we need to? Over the past year there has been almost a 50% drop in IE6 usage and many campaigns launched to stop support the archaic browser.

Accessibility is an important part of web design and web development that is often ignored or just left by the wayside. Rather than making it a fundamental design characteristic accessibility is often something of an afterthought. The point of accessibility is to help as many people as possible get the information they want and need from your website.
